சிறிலங்கா அரசால் அதிகரித்து வரும் தமிழ்மக்கள் மீதான அடக்குமுறையைச் சர்வதேச சமூகம் கண்டிக்க வேண்டும் என்று ஈழத்தமிழர் பேரவை வலியுறுத்துகிறது!
சிறிலங்கா அரசின் காவற்துறையால் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட தமிழ்த்தேசிய மக்கள் முன்னணியின் தலைவர் பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் திரு. கஜேந்திரகுமார் பொன்னம்பலம் அவர்களின் கைது நடவடிக்கையைப் ஈழத்தமிழர் பேரவை ஐக்கிய இராச்சியம் வன்மையாகக் கண்டிக்கிறது.
கடந்தவாரம் மருதங்கேணி காவற்துறையால் தமக்கு விடுக்கப்பட்ட தாக்குதல் மற்றும் உயிருக்கு அச்சுறுத்தல் தொடர்பான விசேட பிரேரணையைத் திரு. பொன்னம்பலம் அவர்கள் பாராளுமன்றத்தில் சமர்ப்பிக்கவிருந்த நிலையில் இந்தக் கைது இடம்பெற்றுள்ளது.
கடந்த வாரம் அவர்மீது சிறிலங்கா இராணுவ புலனாய்வாளர்கள் தாக்குதல் நடாத்தியதும், காவற்துறை அதிகாரி ஒருவர் துப்பாக்கியைக் காட்டி கொலை அச்சுறுத்தல் விடுத்ததும் உலகத் தமிழர்களை அதிர்ச்சியில் ஆழ்த்தியது. இந்த நிலையில் தாக்கிய நபரை கைது செய்யாமல் பாதிக்கப்பட்டவரை சட்டத்தின் முன் நிறுத்துவது மனிதவுரிமை மீறல் நடவடிக்கையாகும். இது சிறிலங்காவில் சிங்களவர்களுக்கும் தமிழர்களுக்கும் இரு வெவ்வேறு சட்ட விதிமுறைகள் உள்ளதை புலப்படுத்துகிறது.
ஆகவே இந்த மனிதவுரிமை மீறல்கள் தொடர்பாக சிறிலங்காவுடன் தொடர்பிலுள்ள சர்வதேச நாடுகள் அதன்மீது கடும் அழுத்தங்களை பிரயோகித்து தமிழ்மக்களின் பிரதிநிதிகள் சுதந்திரமாகச் செயற்பட ஆவனை செய்யுமாறு ஈழத்தமிழர் பேரவை ஐக்கிய இராச்சியம் வலியுறுத்துகிறது.
அத்துடன் திரு. கஜேந்திரகுமார் பொன்னம்பலம் அவர்கள் மீது நடாத்தப்பட்ட மனிதவுரிமை மீறல் செயற்பாட்டை பொதுநலவாய நாடுகளின் பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்கள் கவனத்தில் எடுத்து இலங்கை மீது தகுந்த அழுத்தங்களை பிரயோகிக்க முன்வரவேண்டும் எனவும் ஈழத்தமிழர் பேரவை ஐக்கிய இராச்சியம் வேண்டுகோள் விடுக்கிறது.
அத்துடன் இனவாதத்தையும் இனங்களிடையேயான வன்முறையையும் தூண்டும் விதமாக உண்மைக்குப் புறம்பான செய்திகளை வெளியிடுவதை கொழும்பிலிருந்து வெளிவரும் சிங்கள ஊடகங்கள் தவிர்க்க வேண்டும் என்பதையும் ஈழத்தமிழர் பேரவை ஐக்கிய இராச்சியம் வலியுறுத்துகிறது.
Council of Eelam Tamil UK urging the international community to condemn the increasing oppression of the Tamil people by the Sri Lankan government !
CET-UK strongly condemns the arrest of the leader of the Tamil National People’s Front, Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam MP.
In response to the attack and threats to his life made by Maruthankerny police last week, Hon G.Ponnambalam was scheduled to introduce a special resolution in the House of Representatives. He has since been identified by the police department as an ‚accused person‘ in connection with the event in which he was assaulted and had a loaded gun drawn on him by plain clothes policemen.
It undermines democracy to detain a member of parliament and place a travel ban on him. Arresting a victim while preventing the government intelligence officer who attacked him is terrible. These kinds of acts demonstrate that Tamils and Sinhala people are subject to two distinct sets of rules.
Therefore, we urge the international governments that are in communication with Sri Lanka regarding these abuses of human rights to exert strong pressure on it and permit the Tamil representatives and political activists to exercise their right to freedom of expression.
Furthermore, CET-UK requests that members of the Parliament for the Commonwealth draw attention to the issue and encourage the Sri Lankan government to take action in response to the human rights violations committed against Mr. Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam.
The CET-UK also exhorts the Colombo-based Sinhala media to refrain from disseminating misleading information that encourages hatred and community violence.
